ACTION ON ALCOHOL

About HAGA

The Haringey Advisory Group on Alcohol (HAGA) began its journey in 1981 with a modest but meaningful £500 donation. At the time, street drinking in Finsbury Park had become a serious concern, prompting a community-driven response that would evolve into something remarkable.

From these humble beginnings, HAGA has grown into one of the few standalone alcohol services in England. Over the decades, it has been at the forefront of innovation in alcohol support, breaking new ground in 1992 by becoming one of the first services in the country to offer community detox programmes. In 2013, HAGA has also embraced technology to expand its reach and impact, launching a dedicated smartphone and tablet app to support those on their recovery journey.

This is such a thoughtful and empowering resource.

I’m really happy to hear about the mocktails book. As someone who’s had to give up alcohol for health reasons, it can sometimes feel isolating during social events like girls’ nights. Having delicious mocktail options means I can still join in with everyone, glass in hand, and feel like I’m part of the celebration, without compromising my well-being. This is such a thoughtful and empowering resource. Keep up the amazing work.”
